About

A small senior team, not an agency.

No account managers, no partner who sells and juniors who deliver. The people on the fit call are the people who do the discovery, write the scope, and answer for the delivery date.

Who we are

Pacific Gradient.

We are a small practice built around a simple idea: the hard part of AI is not the model, it is getting a real process to change and stay changed. Everything we sell is shaped to prove that quickly and cheaply, before anyone commits a serious budget.

Behind the practice sits more than fifteen years of delivery and product leadership — the part of the job that matters when a build goes sideways at week six and somebody has to make a call.

We do not name clients, and that discretion is part of what you are buying. If we ever work together, your name will be treated the same way.

We would rather be judged on how the first engagement is constructed than on a list of logos. Three weeks, a fixed fee, and something working at the end of it is a faster way to find out than any reference call.

The delivery team

One accountable lead, and a team that appears when the work needs it.

You are not hiring a body shop, and you are not hiring an agency. You are hiring a senior lead who brings hands when hands are required, and who stays answerable either way.

Some parts are never delegated

The leadership interviews, the use-case scoring, the scope, the price, and the difficult conversation in week six. One senior lead owns those in every engagement, which is why you only ever have one number to call.

Senior engineers, hand-picked per build

People we have worked with before, chosen for the specific problem. No bench to keep occupied, no juniors learning on your budget, and no account manager sitting between you and the engineers.

You never manage them

They are contracted by us, paid by us, and accountable to us. Your side of the arrangement is one contract, one invoice, and one person who answers for the date.

Why the team stays small

AI agents write the first draft of the requirements, the code and the tests. Senior engineers judge that draft, harden it, and ship it. The scarce input is senior judgement, not typing hours — so adding mid-level headcount would make the work slower and more expensive, not faster. That is the mechanism behind the timelines on this site, and it is the reason a fixed price is a sane thing to offer.

How we work

Five things we commit to before you ask.

01

We tell you when the answer is no

If AI is the wrong instrument for your problem, or the process underneath it is broken in a way software will not fix, we write that down and say it. We would rather lose the engagement than deliver something you quietly stop using in month four.

02

Fixed price, written scope

Deliverables and acceptance criteria agreed before work starts. If the work turns out harder than we estimated, that is our problem, not a change request. If you want something genuinely new, we price it before we build it.

03

You own everything

Code, infrastructure definitions and documentation live in your accounts from day one. No licence back to us, no runtime dependency on us, nothing in the stack only we can operate.

04

Working software beats status reporting

You see something running every week rather than a RAG status. Documentation is written for the engineers who inherit the system, and it is a deliverable with criteria — not a folder handed over on the last day.

05

We do not take work we cannot staff

We run a small number of engagements at a time because the model depends on senior people actually being in them. If we cannot start when you need us, we will say so on the first call and tell you when we can.

Engagement 03

Run — when you want the delivery habit, not just the project.

A monthly retainer for companies who have shipped one thing and want the next four to follow it without starting the procurement conversation again.

After a Build, most companies face the same question: who keeps this healthy, and who ships the next item off the catalog? Run answers both with the same team that delivered the first one.

We stay your fractional AI delivery team. We own what is live, sequence the next use cases, bring engineers when a build is needed, and remain the single point your leadership can hold to a date.

It is rolling monthly with 30 days notice. If your team is ready to carry it alone, the right answer is to stop paying us, and we will say so.

Monthly retainer

Scoped to the number of days a month you need. Rolling, 30 days notice.

  • Ownership of what is already in production, including monitoring and incidents
  • The next candidates from the agents catalog, shipped in priority order
  • Your leadership team gets one accountable lead for the AI portfolio
  • Cancel with 30 days notice — no annual commitment

Fit

Who we are not the right fit for.

Saying this out loud saves everyone a call. If you recognise your company here, we are genuinely not your best option.

  • Companies who want a strategy deck, a maturity assessment, or an innovation programme
  • Anyone looking for bodies on a time-and-materials contract
  • Projects where no one in leadership can spend a few hours with us in week one
  • Work that needs twenty people — we would be the wrong shape for it, and we will tell you so

If you are still here: a 50–500 person company, a process that visibly costs you money, and a leadership team who will give us a few hours in week one. That is the whole qualification list.

Talk to us

You have read the page. The call is the only thing left.

Thirty minutes, no deck, no discovery questionnaire. Bring one process that costs you money and we will tell you plainly whether this is worth anyone’s time.

No deck, no discovery questionnaire, no sales engineer on the line. You talk to the people who would do the work.
